praias_mapa.jpgThe big difference between  north and south beaches is that the northern beaches are still less developed in terms of tourism. There are only a few huts sprayed the entire coastline. However, as the beauty of the region is being discovered by tourists, these days most hotels and lodges are built in the north than in the south of Ilheus. Most beaches are more to the north desert and hidden among the rocky coast of the Atlantic. Pieces of paradise as Havaizinho and Itacarezinho (restaurants and some cottages) definitely worth a visit. The two beaches are only 15 km south of Itacaré.

Beach of São Miguel - 5 km

Honestly It does not have many things for the visitors of Ilheus on the beach of San Miguel, but the beach is popular among the isolated population of the district of San Miguel. The beach has some simple tents.

Beach ofNorte - 6 km

Just when you cross the bridge over the Rio Almada, on the road to Itacare, you arrive in Santo Domingo where the beach of the North begins. In the very begining you have some huts situated on the beachfront. Especially the Sunday afternoon this place is crowded with local people, listening to loud music and dancing. A little more to the north after the Eden Village hotel you will find beautiful sandy shores until Ponta da Tulha beach.

Beach of Tulha - 17 km

Ponta da Tulha is a simple and pleasant village with some houses and beautiful beaches. The panoramic image on top of this page is the beach south of the village. The beach from the village center has a few huts serving drinks
and foods. Growing in popularity, there will soon open some new houses. Ponta da Tulha is also known for the lively carnival.

Beach of Mamoan - 21 km

Broadband and quiet beach. Along the way to the beach you can imagine how Brazil was at the time when the first sailors set foot in the area. There is a small village where you will find some bars and huts that serve food and drinks during the end of the week and summer.

Ponta do Ramo - 27 km

During a large part of the year the beaches here are virtually deserted. Outside the general entrance, the beach has almost no cabin. The sea is generally calm and the beach is broad with thin and clear sand. It is a wonderful walk during low tide.

Pé de Serra (Serra Grande) - 34 km

Before climbing the hill to Big Mountain, the highway Ilheus - Itacare, is located at the foot of the mountain. The water here is good for surfing. Literally the beach, the huts and houses are in the shadow of the hill where you can enjoy a wonderful view of much of the north coast of Ilhéus.

Itacarezinho - 53 km

Palm trees, white sand and blue crystal water, a good restaurant and some good huts. You can find all that  in Itacarézinho, one of the best beaches on the north coast where you can enjoy a full day. The beautiful place has a soothing effect on the visitors.

Havaizinho - 56 km

Havaizinho is hidden somewhere between the point where the Atlantic and the rocky coast of the Atlantic Ocean meet. The beach, caught between two rocky headlands, is small, but extremely beautiful. You only arrive on the beach after a walk of , more or less, 25 minutes into the Atlantic. Visitors during the summer season pay entry fees(+/- R$ 5,00).
