The beaches in the center of Ilhéus as Beach Avenue , Beach Christ and in the north of the city, Beach Wet and Beach Marciano , are not as great as before thanks to the construction of new port, but are still popular among moredores neighborhoods.

Apart from some bars and simple restaurants and a few small tents in the place where the streets of Avenida Soares Lopes and July 2 there are no huts near the beach. Previously the water was much closer to the avenue. Nowadays you have to walk through the small dunes, marsh and soccer fields before reaching the beach and sea.
During the winter the beach is very popular among the local people. The beach is located at the foot of the statue of Christ, near the old port at the mouth of the Rio Cachoeira. The water is calm, therefore ideal for children to swim. The cabin offers various drinks and often the site has people selling barbecue and other foods.
At the north side of town, the beach has some of the Patch Booths and contains varieties of drinks, food and music. The beach is very popular among the local people. The cabin Pina, in front of Barravento Hotel, is full of nice and beatiful people during the end of the week. The tent is open 24 hours a day, every day of the week.
A little more to the north is situated the beach of Marciano, another popular place among the local people. There is some tents close to each other they all put loud music. That does not seem to bother the crowd.
